Well Hello, my name is Wednesday Holmes, and on June 4th, 2024, my life was intrusively interrupted when I was diagnosed with breast cancer after receiving my very first mammogram. Further testing revealed that I have two types of cancer: Invasive Ductal Carcinoma (IDC), a more aggressive form, and Ductal Carcinoma In Situ (DCIS), which is at an earlier stage. To make matters even more challenging, I was diagnosed as triple-positive, meaning my hormones fuel the cancer (HER2-positive).
On July 22nd, 2024, I underwent a bilateral mastectomy to remove both breasts, and the doctors found over 10 tumors in my left breast. Unfortunately, complications during surgery prevented the placement of an expander on my left side. Just after my 41st birthday on August 14th, I faced yet another surgery on August 29th to correct this and place the expander.
Right now, I’m focusing on healing from two major surgeries and preparing to begin chemotherapy by the end of September, with at least 12 weeks of treatment ahead of me.
As you can imagine, this journey has taken a huge toll on me not just physically, but financially as well. I haven’t been able to work much, and with mounting bills and everyday expenses, The Struggle Is Real. Unfortunately, life doesn’t pause when you’re battling cancer—bills keep coming, and financial help is scarce.
I’m reaching out to ask for your support as I navigate through this difficult time. Any donation, big or small, would make an incredible difference in helping me cover medical expenses, living costs, and getting through this tough period. I appreciate any help you can provide, whether it’s a donation or simply sharing my story.
Thank you for your kindness and generosity as I fight this battle.
Sincerely,
Wednesday Holmes
